Health education and inspiring women and girls to speak up and take action in their wellness is one way the AWHI is shaping the landscape of prevention and recovery. This year she helped launch Girls Can—a free program for girls in kindergarten through eighth grade. The Girls Can program is held on the University of Kentucky campus and exposed attendees and their families to different types of physical activity like yoga, kick boxing and biking. Female role models, including former UK athletes and notable alumni, were also brought in to discuss the importance of an active lifestyle. When the educational portion of the program was completed, participants cheered on UK women at different sporting events.
